February 1st-3rd, 2011, CEA, Marcoule (France)
Presentations available

This 1st Plenary Meeting was aimed at gathering the European and International Actinide Chemistry Community around the four main ACTINET-I3 activities:

  • Scope 1: Actinide Separation Chemistry
  • Scope 2: Actinide in Geological Environment
  • Scope 3: Actinide Materials
  • Scope 4: Analytical tools and Modelling

For each activity, an introductive lecture presented the state of the art and identify the research to be still carried out and supported through the ACTINET-I3 Transnational Access (C. Poinssot-CEA, H. Geckeis- KIT, Th. Fanghaenel-JRC-ITU).
An international expert gave an illustrative lecture of what is done abroad in each scope [Sc1: Mark Antonio (ANL, USA), Sc2: Sue B. Clark (WSU, USA), Sc3: Kazuo Minato (JAEA, JP), Sc4: Lucas Visscher (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, NL),].
Finally, activities performed within the former ACTINET6 Network of Excellence and within ACTINET-I3 were highlighted through examples of Joint Research Projects and Joint Research Activities.

This Plenary Meeting was also the occasion to reinforce our links with the J-ACTINET Japanese network thanks to the participation of Dr Kazuo Minato from JAEA.

Training and education actions were illustrated with a feedback on the Actinet-I3 Summer School (held in early September 2010) given by some participants.

Moreover, the Associated Pooled Facilities open to the Actinide Science Community were described and a panel was organised to identify the needs in experimental tools.

This Plenary Meeting was a unique occasion to reinforce the Actinide Science Network in Europe but also at the international level and to establish links with the key players in order to develop your activity in this field and contribute to the excellence in actinide science
